A cyclone umbrella comprises cone-shaped tensioned fabric spanned around a single post frame. Cyclones are pre-engineered structures sold in set sizes, they are particularly elegant and very durable, with most umbrellas staying up year-round. These umbrellas are permanent structures with substantial footings, however, the canopy can be taken down and reinstalled easily should you wish to do so. Cyclones are ideal for any area where space for footings is minimal or shade is needed with minimum obtrusions such as restaurants, playgrounds and other sports and recreation facilities.

Advantages

Weatherproof – Cyclone Umbrellas are typically made using waterproof or vinyl fabric, which allows them to handle weather conditions year-round. Famously strong and durable, one of our installations in Canada has been erected continuously for 12 years. They are also extremely low maintenance and can be cleaned easily and quickly with a power hose.

Attractive – The attractive cone-shaped canopy creates an elegant centrepiece for your facility and both the fabric colour and the power-coating of the posts can be customized to match your branding or equipment.

Extendable – Cyclones can be chained together or used in a grid format to create larger areas of shade. This also allows you to extend your shaded area at a later date after the initial installation.

Minimal Footings – Unlike the majority of our other structures, the footing for a Cyclone umbrella is limited to a single post. This makes them great for areas where participants, staff or other users of the space need to move around the structure freely.

Minimal Engineering – Cyclone Umbrellas are pre-engineered in set sizes, which speeds up the installation process. Footings are substantial to support the load but these structures can be erected within a single day creating shade for your space quickly and efficiently.

Disadvantages

Substantial Footings – Although footings are limited to a single post, to support the weight and force of the canopy and frame, footings for Cyclone Umbrellas are extensive and make permanent structures.

Size Limitations – Compared to a free-span or framed structure, the area of shade created by a Cyclone umbrella is relatively small. However, we can chain these structures together in a line or a grid to create a much larger space and these multiple-canopy setups look fantastic.

Construction

Marine-Grade Hardware – For outdoor products, high-quality hardware is essential for both the aesthetics and the longevity of your structure. All of our hardware is made from marine-grade forged 316 stainless steel imported from Denmark. High load rated, this material is extremely strong and corrosion-resistant ensuring a polished finish for the life of your hardware.
Stainless Steel Perimeter – The perimeter of our Cyclone umbrellas is reinforced with a stainless steel cable, ensuring maximum amounts of tension and longevity.
Triple-Layered Reinforced Corners – Our reinforced corners allow increased levels of tension, improving the aesthetic of the canopy and its performance in wind and rain.
Galvanized or Powder-Coated Steel – Frames come galvanized as standard and we also offer an upgrade to powder-coated, which can be used to match the colour of your branding or equipment.
